An Answered Prayer

My Dearest Mom,

Life is different for you today. You're taking a path on your journey that we haven't experienced. God is good! He is answering our prayer and bringing you peace from the turmoil and agony of the last 3 weeks. You rested more easily last night, and today we will be at your bedside, releasing you into Jesus' arms when he calls you.

Our life on this earth will continue with its ups and downs, struggles and happy moments. There will be a sadness for those of us who can no longer walk beside you but a joy for the peace we know you are experiencing.

As several have said, we know you will immediately be in the Big Chorus in the Sky with singing so pure - matched vowels and vocal production, chords instantly locking, and a unity you've never experienced - all for the purpose of bringing glory to Him. And of course, you'll be singing tenor.

There will be more joy in your heart than you've ever thought possible, and you will be relieved of all the frustrations and sadness you've lived through here on earth.

The song, I Can Only Imagine, by Mercy Me expresses it like no other song I know:

I can only imagine what it will be like when I walk by your side.
I can only imagine what my eyes will see when your face is before me.
I can only imagine.

Surrounded by your glory what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for your Jesus, or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence, or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah? Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine. I can only imagine.

I can only imagine when that day comes,
And I find myself standing in the Son.
I can only imagine when all I will do
Is forever, forever worship you.
I can only imagine. I can only imagine.

We love you Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma,
Friend, Colleague, and Singing Sister

  1. Terry, this blog is a wonderful idea. It's not only a tool to inform, but I imagine it's also a tool to reminisce, heal and store memories to return to. So strange that Laura's mom, Dottie, just went through this experience; and now your mom, Dot.

I've always wished I could have a voice through song and really admire those who do. Music connects us, inspires us and soothes our soul. And from all that I've heard, Heaven will be gaining an amazing tenor. Thank you for sharing your mom's journey with us. For those of us who don't know her personally, we know that this is a journey for you as well. I'm praying that you will all feel God's presence and comforting arms around you today and always.

  2. I have known Dot for seven years. I always looked forward seeing Dots smile and energy she brought into a room. I can remember helping Dot with expense reports and helping find a conference room at Honeywell. I had the honor to introduce Dot to IAAP (International Association of Administrative Professionals) that she has been a member for five years. Dot was always willing to give a helping hand and to volunteer when others didn't. Now that Dot's journey here on earth is nearing the end heaven is gaining someone very special. Dot will diffenitly make sure thing are done the right way. Dot will be at piece with no more pain. One thing I ask Dot is when you get to heaven please say hi to my daughter (Lisa), and thell her you knew her Mother. I will miss you! My thoughts and prayers go out to you Dot and your family.
